Planned Programs

Since inception, Jassac Charitable Foundation, Inc. (Foundation) has participated in and/ or developed a series of programs which include but not limited to:  financial symposiums, college preparation and awareness, employment preparation workshops, cultural arts center and health care symposiums.

While the Foundation continues to grow and enhance its stated programs and goals through the use of Foundation activities, the Planned Giving/Pledge Program, and the fund raising ventures, it supports charitable programs financially as well as through personal participation.

The Foundation co-sponsored the annual CommUNITY Expo held at the Robbins Community Center in Robbins, IL. The expo offered safe fun to the residents of the Robbins community. Free flu shots, health screenings, breast cancer awareness information, a real estate and estate planning workshop as well as a political forum and voter registration drive were just a few of the services offered at the expo.

Foundation activities have included:

Delta Academy

DELTA ACADEMY is a mentorship program for African-American young girls ages 11-13. Topics include self-esteem awareness, healthy lifestyles (childhood obesity), educational development and civic engagement through volunteerism. The Foundation supports this program by volunteering as mentors and soliciting in-kind donations

Breakfast with Santa

Breakfast with Santa is an annual community outreach program that provides breakfast, books, coats, toys, bikes, hats and gloves to young children. Every year the Foundation partners with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Joliet Area/South Suburban Alumnae Chapter to host the event.   Every two years a different south suburban community is chosen that is in need of economic support due to a large number of families with low income levels and/or high percentages of unemployment. In 2009, the event was held in Robbins, IL.

Umoja Step Show

The UMOJA Step Show fundraiser is an annual competitive sorority and fraternity step performance sponsored by the Foundation and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Joliet Area/South Suburban Alumnae Chapter.

In an effort to promote non-violence in the community, the show focused on the theme UMOJA to promote unity in our community as the children prepared to go back to school and to raise awareness to the epidemic of gun violence that is taking the lives of our children everyday.

Proceeds from the event helped to support community programming efforts as well as our scholarship fund.  In support of the effort to promote non-violence, we presented Ronald & Annette Holt with a plaque and $100 donation to the Purpose over Pain Foundation in honor of their deceased son, Blair Holt.

Breast Cancer Awareness

The Foundation was involved with the DST Curves Breast Cancer Awareness where they provided financial support, tables, chairs and refreshments and volunteered many hours. Mammograms and information was provided to participants that attended the breast cancer awareness seminars.  Foundation members participated in the walk and made a financial contribution to the American Cancer Society to help support Breast Cancer Research.

Homeowners Initiative

$10,000 in Homeownership Relief Grants were awarded to distressed families.

Jassac Charitable Foundation, Inc. has been an integral part of the South Suburban PADS Program for the past three years. The Foundation makes a cash donation and assists with food and supplies.  PADS service delivery is through a Joint Venture Agreement with the Foundation and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Joliet Area/South Suburban Alumnae Chapter.  This is a community outreach program that we provide volunteers in two communities: New Faith Baptist Church located in Matteson, Illinois and St. Irenause Catholic Church located in Park Forest, Illinois.
