History

Jassac Charitable Foundation, Inc.  (referred to as Foundation) was established in 2003 as an Illinois not-for-profit corporation. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations and contributions are tax deductible to the extent of the Internal Revenue Service tax regulations. The primary purpose of the Foundation is to support programs, in the Southland are of Chicago, Illinois that enhance the cultural, educational and economical needs, enrich the lives of youth through mentoring and tutoring programs and promote community awareness on mental and physical health concerns.

The Foundation evolved from a site committee that was established in 2002 with twenty members.  The committee’s responsibility was to vigourously pursue locations and selections of appropriate property to recommend to the Joliet Area South Suburban Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for purchase, to house community programs and projects.  With this goal in mind, the committee proceeded to form the not-for-profit organization, which is known as, Jassac Charitable Foundation, Inc., effective October 18, 2005.   The original name was Jassac, Inc., NFP.

Jassac Charitable Foundation believes the strength of any community is based on the education and
well-being of its people.
